Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
