The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
